Heritage Open Day: Have a tour of the only theatre to be built and to open during WW2. The Little Theatre Gateshead was built as a permanent home for the Progressive Players by the influential Dodds Sisters. The Little Theatre Gateshead is the home of the Progressive Players. It was funded by the Dodds Sisters who lived in Low Fell, Gateshead, as a permanent home for the group. The Progressive Players is an amateur community theatre group who put on ten shows a year. The theatre seats 185 people and is run entirely by volunteers. It has a coffee lounge and bar, extensive wardrobe and props departments as well as a wonderful archive which charts the history of the group from humble beginnings in 1920 to the present day...
