Led by experienced Mountain Leader Andy Gigg, this hands-on day is perfect for those who already have a basic understanding of map reading and want to build confidence navigating off-path terrain. You’ll learn and practise key hillwalking navigation techniques, including: Accurate pacing and timing Walking on a bearing using a compass Contour interpretation and terrain recognition Practical navigation strategies for poor visibility and open moorland Expect a challenging but rewarding day immersed in classic Peak District wilderness, ideal for walkers aiming to move from intermediate to independent navigation.
