Beverley care home welcomes community for festive fun

0, 2:30 - 4:30 Keldgate, Beverley HU17 8HU A care home in Beverley is embracing the yuletide season by opening its doors for a special reminiscence event. Care UK’s Chapter House, on Keldgate, is inviting people to revisit traditions from Christmas past by joining residents and team members for its event on Friday 12 December from 2:30 pm – 4:30 pm. The event is part of Care UK’s “Step Into Christmas” initiative, which aims to rekindle Christmas customs that residents remember from their childhood by reliving them and sharing them with the local community. On the day, Chapter House will be welcoming the local community to the home for an afternoon of traditional Christmas carol singing with residents and students from East Riding College. Resident, Gwen, said: “It is a brilliant idea to bring the residents and community together and engage in song. It lifts everyone spirts and brings joy to the home as well as bringing back memories of carol singing at peoples doors.” Matthew Justice, Customer Relations Manager at Chapter House, said: “There’s nothing like carolling to usher in the festive season. For many residents, these carols are cherished songs from their own childhood, and the chance to pass them on to the community is a great way to keep those traditions alive. “This activity is set to capture the true spirit of the season, and we are looking forward to welcoming the community to our home to share an afternoon of singing that we know will help us bring the festivities to Beverley.” Chapter House offers full-time residential and dementia care, as well as short-term respite care. The home incorporates plenty of space for hobby and leisure activities and includes its own cinema, hair and beauty salon and café.
