We invite you to join us for a programme of powerful and exciting music from two significant and highly influential composers: Gabriel Fauré who bridged the eras of late Romanticism and early modernism, and the renowned 20th Century Hungarian composer, musicologist and educator, Zoltan Kodály. Faure's Requiem is the best known of his works. As a master of subtle harmonies and memorable, beautiful melodies, it has become a beloved staple of the choral repertoire. Our programme also includes Kodaly's Missa Brevis, a compelling and moving choral work written during the siege of Budapest in WWII, known for its folk-like melodies and distinctive Hungarian influences, and his 1966 final major work, Laudes Organi, Praise of the Organ. It is described as a fantasia featuring medieval chants and a triumphant finale praising the organ itself. We are delighted to welcome back celebrated organist, Luke Bond, from St. George's Chapel, Windsor Castle, where he is Assistant Director of Music.
