St Laurence – Stroud Centre for Peace and The Arts The Shambles Stroud GL5 1AP
Music lovers are in for a treat with Songs for the Soul, a heartwarming fundraising concert in aid of a Stroud-based charity. The event will bring together two vibrant community choirs – Whiteshill and Ruscombe Community Choir and The Wednesdays Singing Group from Cheltenham, and promises an uplifting evening of music, harmony and hope in the acoustic setting of St Laurence, Stroud. Songs for the Soul, organised by choir leaders Luc Bailey and Louise Johnson, is a collaboration of shared voices for a shared purpose: The Door Youth Project. Luc says, “Louise and I regularly collaborate on musical ventures. This concert brings together two of the most dynamic community choirs in the county for an evening of soul-stirring music from their repertoires. The Whiteshill and Ruscombe Community Choir has been singing for over ten years, and I've been their Musical Director for the last four. During that time, we've explored a wide variety of styles, from reflective, emotion-filled songs to our most ambitious project yet – Metallica. Over the last year, we've been finessing Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody in honour of the song’s 50th anniversary, and this epic piece will feature in our concert programme, alongside a country music medley ranging from John Denver to Beyoncé. The audience can look forward to rich harmonies, moving moments, and an unforgettable musical experience. Louise adds, “The Wednesdays has just turned twelve and still going strong. I've led them from the beginning, and I’m more excited about it now than ever. Over the years, the feeling of community that comes from singing together has grown naturally, shaped by everyone’s own reasons for joining. We're really pleased to be working with Luc and the Whiteshill and Ruscombe Community Choir, contributing to the wide mix of songs in the concert, and delighted to help raise money for a wonderful charity that supports and gives hope to young people...
