Lysander and Hermia are on the run. Having fled the fury of a father and a tyrant who forbid their love, the couple find themselves lost in the woods, their friends Demetrius (Hermia's state-sanctioned suitor) and Helena (Demetrius' spurned admirer) close behind. They're not the only strangers in the forest, however. A troupe of local actors are preparing for a Royal Command performance and they - like the lost lovers - are about to fall under the spell influence of the true rulers of the ancient woodland...
