About the workshop Inspired by the Folklore Exhibition, we will discover what ‘folklore’ encompasses. We will also explore subjects and structures within this type of creative writing tradition, uncovering which type of folk tales inspire you the most. Expect some quick and playful creative writing exercises inspired by objects and stories in the exhibition to get your creative writing juices flowing. We will then focus on folkloric tales and traditions from Oxfordshire, which you will reimagine within your own folk tale, myth, fairytale, legend or fable. This supportive and encouraging workshop is aimed at writers of all levels of experience aged 16 + Pens and paper provided. Please bring your own water bottle, and any favourite notebook, pens, pencils and or a tablet or phone to write with if you prefer. About the Tutor Flis Tattersall is a playwright, writes short stories and for children. Her first children’s book ‘Cornish Mice and the Treasure Garden’ was published by TorMark in 2021. She has undertaken writing commissions for the Writer’s Block in Cornwall, the Wildfowl Wetlands Trust, and the War Ephemera Project. Flis has been running creative workshops for the past six years, with partners including the Royal Cornwall Museum (‘The Magical Realism in the Museum' project), the University of Exeter, Swindon Literary Festival, Falmouth festival and Devizes museum. She is currently working on an Arts Council funded project in Swindon working with young women aged 14-25 to write and produce a new play about contemporary and historic female experience in the town...
