In the harsh, unforgiving heat of a penal colony, a young Lieutenant decides to bring civilization to the convicts by doing the unthinkable – putting on a play. Surrounded by the threat of the hangman’s noose and the brutality of their existence, a ragtag group of thieves and murderers must learn their lines – and how to work together. But as rehearsals begin, they discover theatre offers them something more dangerous than rebellion: Hope.
