York care home welcomes local community for charity fundraising event

0, 2-4 pm Chocolate Works Care Village Bishopthorpe Road York Yorkshire YO23 1DE A care home in York is opening its doors to the local community for a tea party fundraising event in aid of Dementia UK. Care UK’s Chocolate Works, on Bishopthorpe Road, will be fundraising for Dementia UK on Tuesday 12th May from 2-4 pm, by hosting its own tea party. On the day, guests will be welcomed to the home for tea, cakes and refreshments and will have the opportunity to chat with dementia experts about typical signs of ageing and how symptoms differ from dementia. The event will be raising vital funds for Dementia UK, which provides life-changing support and advice to anyone affected by dementia, through a bake sale of goods prepared by residents and team members. On the day, guests can tuck into sweet treats whilst listening to live music from local singer, Bonnie Milnes. Judy Wray, General Manager at Chocolate Works, said: “We’re really looking forward to bringing the community together with residents here at Chocolate Works for our fundraising event. Raising money for vital charities like Dementia UK is so important to us and we’re delighted to be able to host this event. “We’re hoping for a great turnout on the day so that residents can continue to build meaningful relationships with the community and so that we can raise as much money as possible for such a wonderful cause.” Designed to enable residents to lead active and fulfilling lives, while also promoting independence, Chocolate Works incorporates plenty of space for leisure activities and hobbies, including its own cinema, hair and beauty salon and pub.
