We are really excited to announce that we have added an extra day when we are open to the public throughout the months of July and August! During these two months, we will be open every day from Saturday to Wednesday unless we are hosting a special event (please check our website for regular updates).
The Dr Jenner's House and Garden Museum provides itself on being a calm and tranquil space whilst sharing the story of vaccination and the worldwide eradication of Smallpox. The museum teaches us not to overlook the threat of infectious disease and highlights the need for global co-operation for disease eradication. By visiting the Museum, you can experience the many facets that made Dr Edward Jenner such a progressive and community minded figure.
Edward Jenner’s family life and career has exceptionally strong links to Berkeley, the town where he was born, lived and worked for the majority of his career. Apart from The Chantry (now home to the Jenner Museum), there are a number of interesting buildings which played important parts in his life, these can be seen in a quarter of a mile walk around the town which takes in ten other buildings of historical importance.
Dr Jenner’s House is a peaceful and timeless place, inspiring its visitors to contemplate the enormous social advances that vaccination has enabled, understand vaccine hesitancy, and learn about future developments for vaccination.
