The Base Greenham, Greenham Business Park, Communications Road, Thatcham RG19 6HN
Internationally renowned ceramic artist, Jin Eui Kim, brings his new series of eye-catching sculptures to The Base this summer, exploring with the intriguing themes of illusion and reality.
Using carefully shaped clay, tone, and colour gradients, Kim has created a series of new pieces which trick the eye into seeing movement and shifting forms in the solid, three-dimensional objects.
Inspired by optical illusions and Optical Art, his work is also influenced by artists known for bold patterns, unusual perspectives, and striking use of space and form. From painters such as Patrick Hughes and his signature use of reverse perspective to Bridget Riley's geometric patterns along with contemporary sculptor, Anish Kapoor's fascination with volume and density.
By experimenting with lines, patterns, and the relationship between an object and its background, Kim creates pieces that seem to change depending on where you stand or how long you look. Don't miss your chance to gaze upon this unique and impressive ceramic exhibition...
