The brilliant Ian McKellen plays Julian Sklar, a once celebrated painter on the London art scene since his starry breakout in the creative explosion of the 1960s, who hasn't painted in decades and has been broke for years drifting into a cluttered chaotic self-imposed seclusion in Bloomsbury. His two estranged, grasping children, desperate for an inheritance (James Corden & Jessica Gunning) hire Lori (Michaela Coel) a young art restorer and former forger, to pose as a prospective assistant to find and secretly finish, a legendary series of abandoned canvases that lie buried somewhere deep in store in Julian's home studio.
A gloriously entertaining sharp and remarkable tale of creativity, legacy, and avarice from director Steven Soderbergh.
