Fringe Flicks returns to DoES Liverpool with Love Is Strange, a programme of 13 short films about warped romance, awkward desire, tenderness, obsession and emotional misfires.
From impossible honesty and inappropriate attraction to strange creatures searching for passion and a man who falls hopelessly in love with a pineapple, the programme moves through dark comedy, animation, stop motion, experimental film, surrealism and off-kilter romance.
Fringe Flicks is People Versus TV’s relaxed, social short-film night for strange and inventive independent cinema. We screen work from emerging filmmakers in Liverpool, across the UK and further afield, with a particular fondness for films that are funny, unsettling, experimental, handmade or difficult to categorise.
Alongside the films there’ll be a Love Is Strange playlist curated by Esa Shields, a raffle, an Audience Choice Award sponsored by The DCP Works, an interval and time to hang around afterwards.
The idea is simple: good short films, a welcoming room and a chance to discover filmmakers you may never have come across before. Whether you’re a filmmaker, a massive film nerd or simply looking for something unusual to do on a Friday night, you’re very welcome.
Fringe Flicks is organised by People Versus TV, an artist-led filmmaker collective based in Liverpool...
