Open Rehearsal

Wed 9 Sep
Wednesday September 9th, 7:30pm - 9:30pm
No charge! Free refreshments
St Leonards Church, Marshalls Brow, Penwortham, Preston. PR1 9JA The Rawstorne Singers invite you to take part in a special open rehearsal of lovely choral music on Wednesday September 9th at St Leonard's Church in Preston. We are a friendly and welcoming choir and would love to meet you and share our love of singing with you. The evening is free of charge and you'll be able to enjoy being part of a choir yourself, perhaps for the first time, an experience not to be missed. We've chosen two well known composers to appeal to those who prefer differing styles of music. The first is Handel whose choruses from 'The Messiah' have delighted audiences since its first performance in the 1700's. It's one of the best-known and most frequently performed choral works in Western music and it's a thrilling experience to try singing some of Handel's most famous choruses instead of just listening to them. The second composer is John Rutter, the popular English composer well known for writing Christmas carols and a variety of full choral works, including 'Requiem' which will also be featured during our open rehearsal. During the evening you’ll benefit from expert tuition from our talented Musical Director Marc Murray and all voice parts are very welcome. There’ll be plenty of time to talk to choir members during our refreshment break and we’ll tell you all about our visit to the magnificent Durham Cathedral where we sang for four days in August. Singing is a brilliant way to make new friends and research has shown it positively benefits both physical and mental health, so why not give it a try?...
