Find out about the people who walked on the same streets (maybe even lived in the same house) as you, but had very different working lives What did your great grandparents do for a living? They may have been in service, done agricultural labour or worked at home as a laundress or seamstress.
During much of the 20thC whole families worked in Abingdon’s factories: two famous leather works, Pavlova and Booths, the largest clothing factory in Britain, a brewery which served hundreds of pubs and a car factory producing the famous MG.
Then came “the Atomics†– with the new jobs at Harwell and Culham bringing thousands of new residents to the town...
