Heritage Open Day: Grade 1 Listed Church St Peter & St Paul, Mottistone, is a medieval Church of England parish church in the village of Mottistone, Isle of Wight. The church dates from the 12th century and is traditionally linked with Brian de Insula, lord of Mottistone Manor. Much of the present building reflects 15th-century enlargement, including the nave aisles, chancel and west tower, while the north or Cheke Chapel was added in the 16th century. The church is Grade I listed for its exceptional architectural and historic interest and is noted for its medieval fabric, Jacobean pulpit, historic memorials, restored font, shingled spire and the chancel roof timbers salvaged from the wreck of the Bermudan barque Cedrene in 1862...
