Heritage Open Day: Come and explore these unique seaside gardens created by James Eddels, a successful London hosiery merchant In 1839. Eddells bought the land from William Minter, a retired shipwright, to make 'The Vale '. He aimed to develop ' superior housing' on a plot that would centre on a generous central garden. Much of his project has miraculously survived intact, but there have been ups and downs in its story since the 19th century.
