Heritage Open Day: During Poynton's mining industry, men toiled below ground in claustrophobic, unsafe conditions... but who worked by their side? In this free mini exhibition, discover the hidden lives of the ponies who had no choice to work, but gave it their all. Looking behind the curtain at the everyday lives of the humble pit pony, this mini exhibition will explore how and why ponies worked in the mines, their relationships with the miners themselves, and what happened when work below ground began to dry up. The exhibition will also reveal a small insight into the personalities of the Poynton Pit Ponies, including the day they ran free!
This exhibition is available to view during Civic Hall opening hours in the reception area...
