Heritage Open Day: The Ramsgate Historic Quarter Heritage Open Day celebrations 2026 will be at the Sea Captain's garden. CT11 9TX Our HODs event will be outside this year on the site where Captain Thomas Abbotts grand mansion once stood. The house was later occupied by Lord Conyingham and featured an impressive kitchen garden and orchards. There will be information about the Historic Quarter and its occupants in its heyday, stories of the sea captains and their lucrative trade with the continent as well as some walking tours pointing out some of the grand mansions in which they lived. The event is the launch of the garden in recognition of the value of heritage architecture, green spaces and community spirit all washed down with a barrel of ale, a truckle of cheese with sea biscuits...
