Heritage Open Day: This Exhibition at The Hut on Felixstowe promenade tells the story of Beach Huts in Felixstowe Felixstowe is reputed to have been the first place in England to introduce beach huts, making these colourful little buildings an important part of the town’s seaside heritage. Evolving from the wheeled bathing machines of the Victorian era, beach huts gave families a private place to change, shelter and enjoy a day beside the sea. This exhibition explores their history through photographs, stories and memorabilia, celebrating the generations of visitors and residents who have made the beach huts their summer homes by the sea.
