Formed in 2016, the Albion Quartet unites four outstanding young string players, brought together by a shared belief in the visceral power of the string quartet. For Johannes Brahms, laughter was a serious business, and when he wrote his third and final string quartet, he reached back to the 18th century and channelled the wit, the fantasy and the sparkling fun of one of his own favourite composers, Haydn. It’s like sipping an Aperol Spritz, with the passionate romance of Mendelssohn’s Capriccio as a flavoursome canapé. Mendelssohn Capriccio for String Quartet Op.81 Brahms String Quartet No 3 in B flat
