This will be a superb evening of choral music presented by Exmouth Choral Society under the baton of renowned musical director Laurence Blyth.
The choir will sing one of the greatest masterpieces composed by Johann Sebastian Bach: the Christmas Oratorio.
Bach wrote this oratorio in 1734 to be sung through the Christmas season. It is in six parts but on this occasion, the choir will sing Cantatas 1, 2, 3 and 6. Cantata 1 was to be performed on Christmas Day and described the birth of Jesus. The second and third feature the shepherds and were intended for 26 and 27 December while the sixth describes the adoration of the Magi.
The Christmas Oratorio is said by some to be equal to The Messiah and will make for an wonderful evening of music.
The concert starts at 7.30pm. Tickets are £12.00 each and are available from the Parish Office at Holy Trinity Church and The Card Shop Too, 4, High Street, Budleigh Salterton.
