1943 Rolls Royce Merlin Engine Run Day

Details
Special Engine Run day at the Wings WW2 Aviation Museum of the Worlds only authentic Handley Page Halifax Merlin Mk XX Engine. Halifax Serial Number JD150 was shot down in July 1943 over Germany crashing into a swamp. Four engines were recovered in 2010 and one of these engines has been painstakingly restored to run again in memory of the young crew. Hearing the names of the crew and their ages and what happened on that fateful night followed by the roar of this truly historic engine will most certainly make the hairs on the back of your neck stand up! This is the only place in the World where a real combat flown Merlin engine from a 1943 Handley Page Halifax Mk II can be heard running with the unique Saxophone style exhausts giving the unique sound of the Halifax Bomber - a sound not heard since the war!

Wings Aviation Museum is open from 10am to 5pm with a morning and an afternoon run taking place. Normal museum admission prices apply, there has not been a better time to visit us!
Adults £8, Concessions £7 Children upto age 12 £4 Under 5’s FREE.
