Heritage Open Day: Impressive Victorian Church with fine wall paintings. To the rear of the Church on Manchester Street is the Boys' Brigade Hall, a Listed Building which was formerly a Wesleyan Chapel. Discover this Victorian, Norman-style church by Benjamin Ferrey, former apprentice to Augustus Pugin. Take this opportunity to see the impressive apse murals from 1875, which were recently conserved, and a fine Minton tiled floor in the Chancel. Information leaflets will be available. On Saturday, volunteers will be present to talk to and refreshments will be available. On other days, information is available about the church and its history.
