The educational background of our parents has a large bearing on our life chances, but often overlooked is the effect of coming from the ’wrong side of the tracks’.
These are specially commissioned stories that will be about Fort Nelson during the First World War. The Author is the fabulous story teller Janet Goring and she has used George Weston’s letters home to inspire her. George Weston was a young man of 18 who joined up in 1914 and began his training here at Fort Nelson.
Prior to their tour to Spain in June, this is a chance to hear the University of Portsmouth ensembles performing a selection of music in a wide variety of styles. Directed by Colin Jagger and Ken Wharton-Emms, a great night is guaranteed.

Inspirational design ideas for tiny plots with perennials, grasses, old roses, trough planting and raised vegetable beds. A small brick rill edges a circle of lawn.

A rambling, deceptively large and tranquil cottage garden that is accessed from a side gate and unexpectedly removed from the sometimes bustling A27. Creatively divided with rooms, richly filled borders, patios and lawns giving intense variety.
The first Steam-up Sunday of the new season. All our resident traction engines and road rollers will be out in force. The museum will be in steam as well. Both large steam engines and our small vertical one should be working away.
Second year running - we are holding our very own beer festival again – "Bricks, Beer and Buses"…because that is exactly what it is going to be!
We will be running a heritage bus service from Swanwick Station (good trains to/from Portsmouth and Southampton) to the Brickworks.
