Held on behalf of Hardy Plant Society South Wales Group. Free Entry, non-members welcome. Interesting and unusual plants as well as teas, coffees and home made cakes.
Now in its tenth year, the famous festival is one of the biggest free walking events of the year, organized by the charity Valeways. Booking is not required. Just turn up at the stated meeting place and time where you will be greeted by your named Walk Leader.
We have selected our exhibitors for this year which includes some old favourites and of course some fresh faces for you to experience. Tracy is again creating the most lovely festival site up at Old Hall Gardens with amazing activities for the whole family as well as a good cross section of exciting exhibitors.
Bigger, bolder and faster, the SWYD Sprint Triathlon returns to Barry Island on 26th May 2019 for a closed roads, ITU draft legal sprint distance qualifier. The race will also host the 2019 Welsh National Sprint Championship.
Join us at our inaugural Summer Fayre at St Donat’s Castle, UWC Atlantic College and browse a wonderful collection of over 50 food, drink and craft stalls. The fayre is set across the charming rooms of St Donat’s Castle and Arts Centre as well as the striking outdoor gardens that overlook the sea.

Beats, Eats and Treats returns to Barry Island with two days of craft stalls, live music and food and drink by the sea. Enjoy the food and bar areas all along the prom featuring Meat and Greek, Bwydiful and Hogi Hogi Hogi, Vale Cider, Tomos a Lilford, Eccentric Gin, Mr. Croquewich and many more.

Sun, sea, and sand provide the backdrop to the Barry Island 10K – which brings a summertime festival of running to the popular seaside resort with a 10K race and family fun run. A firm favourite with runners – renowned for it’s varied and scenic route, unbeatable crowd support and feel-good atmosphere.
The Vale Show regularly attracts over 20,000 people from all walks of life, from town and from countryside. The Show has grown considerably over the years and is now the largest one day event in the Vale of Glamorgan.
Enjoy two nights of open air cinema on the beautiful beach side location of Barry Island Gardens. The free showings start at around at 8.30pm each night and we recommend turning up early to get a good spot. Bring a picnic, blanket or low back chair and enjoy the show.
