Dir: Martin Scorsese, USA, 2011, 126 min. The fantastical story of twelve-year-old Hugo (Asa Butterfield), orphan, clock keeper and thief, who lives in the walls of a Paris train station. Mystery surrounds the broken toy automaton that belonged to his father, but maybe the old man who owns a nearby toyshop could help? Based on Brian Selznick’s book The Invention of Hugo Cabret, this is a wonderfully involving story for all ages. The stunning cast includes Ben Kingsley, Sacha Baron Cohen, Ray Winstone, Emily Mortimer, Christopher Lee, Jude Law, Richard Griffiths, Frances de la Tour and Helen McRory.
