Stations of the Cross for Freedom from Torture

This is a Past Event and has been Archived.

From Lent to Easter 2012, St Michael's Church, Discoed, nr Presteigne is hosting an unique event in aid of the human rights charity Freedom from Torture. St Michael's Church has commissioned 14 visual artists to produce an interpretation of one of the 14 scriptural Stations of the Cross, each of which is based on a Biblical text describing Jesus going through the torture that led to his death. The interior of the church has been beautifully restored and the whitewashed walls and pale oak floors create a wonderful gallery space."The organisers have aimed at as wide and diverse interpretation as possible, and have brought everything together, like instruments in an orchestra playing the same theme of suffering and love", The Church Times, March 2012.

For more information, and to buy a Station or the catalogue (£7.50 in p&p) email David Hiam at davidhiam@aol.com or 01547 560246

Every event on WhereCanWeGo has been added by the organisers themselves, so you get a really good feel for what events are about.
If you're organising a public event, you can promote it for FREE by registering here ~ it works so well.
Don't take our word. See what our organisers say:
"Our event was a success due in no small part to your inclusion of it and the fact that yours was the first entry in an internet search for the title of the exhibition. The days of chasing after printed media coverage are over. Where Can We Go gave us excellent coverage and and we would be happy to recommend your service to organisations large and small." - Jock, Herald Events.
"We had an excellent response from our posting on WhereCanWeGo.com, and it was responsible for drawing folk from a wide area to our event; we recommend you as being the most effective form of publicity around." - Barbara , Village Celebration Food & Crafts Fairs.
