Verdi Requiem: Oxford Harmonic Choir
Originally criticised for being too operatic for its religious text, Verdi’s Requiem is now considered to be one of the greatest, and certainly most spectacular, pieces of choral music of all time. From the first whispered notes to the fiery Dies Irae and the cries for deliverance of the concluding Libera Me, this is a work to shake the pillars of Oxford’s beautiful Sheldonian Theatre. Oxford Harmonic Choir are joined by the Orchestra of Stowe Opera and a top-class group of soloists.
