Inspired in Hull: the story of Liquid crystals (LCDs)

Heritage Open Day: Liquid crystal displays (LCDs) pervade all aspects of our daily lives in a vast array of gadgets that make our lives better - mobile phones, cameras, TVs, computers and even, toasters! These LCD displays were invented in Hull in 1972 by Prof George Gray and his team after considerable research into the properties of what became known as liquid crystals.
