Czech Philharmonic Orchestra: Smetana, Bruch, Vaughan Williams & Dvorák
The sound of this orchestra in the suite from The Bartered Bride will be fascinating to compare with the OAE’s performance of the Overture earlier in the season. Bruch’s most popular violin concerto is one of the wonders of the violin repertoire, with an endless, natural flow of heartfelt melody which is unsurpassed. In The Lark Ascending, the solo violin soars above the orchestra in increasing rapture. The concert ends with Dvorák’s most powerful and dramatic symphony, first conducted in London
