Discovering The Owl Service – The plates, the place and the stories
Griselda will give a talk about how the design on a dinner service, the story of Math ap Mathonwy and the valley of Llanymawddwy combined to inspire the creation of Alan Garner’s novel, The Owl Service. She will tell stories of its background and the development from first idea to completed novel, and how, forty-five years after its publication, the name of the designer was finally discovered. Plates from the dinner service and other ceramics with the owl motif, kindly donated to The Blackden
