Cairo Street Chapel Warrington
Heritage Open Day: Cairo Street Chapel is after the Parish Church the oldest surviving place of worship in Warrington. The chapel was founded by the Rev Robert Yates after his ejection from the parish church in 1662.In 1745 during the fifty year ministry of Rev Dr. Owen the present chapel was built and during that time was the original home of Warrington Dissenting Academy Notable among the tutors at the Academy was Joseph Priestley who was both ordained a Minister and married at the Chapel,.
