Hollins Farm Walk – Farming Landscapes 2012
Hollins Farm has been lived in and worked by the Rawlings family since the 16th century. There will be plenty of lambs to see and perhaps a newborn calf. There are also a number of bird species that nest on the farm and farmer Will Rawling will explain the farming year and its links with nature’s cycle. Today he farms upland beef and sheep. Galesyke - Open Garden for NGS
Partially landscaped garden of several acres on banks of R Irt with views of Wasdale Fells, noted for its display of rhododendrons and azaleas. During the November 2009 floods the garden suffered some damage; the beds immediately adjacent to the river were completely washed away; and further downstream, several trees were lost. This damage will not have been made good in time for the garden.. more
