Hinckley & District Museum

Heritage Open Day: Thatched timber box framed cottages dating from the 1680s, housing a local history museum of Hinckley and the surrounding area. See the framework knitter`s room setting with c.1740 stocking frame, and displays including the `Hansom Cab in Popular Culture` with a 3/4 scale model of the cab invented in Hinckley by Joseph Hansom in 1834; Hinckley Workhouse; the plague in Hinckley; Roman and medieval Hinckley; Richard III and the battle of Bosworth; John Cleveland - Cavalier poet;
