Hereward the Wake and Bayeux Tapestry Talk
David Maile and Mia Hansson are coming to the Abbey to give a talk on the
Norman Conquest and our local hero Hereward the Wake.
There are two historical sources that state that Hereward together with his first wife Torfrida were buried in the Abbey. Whilst we cannot provide categoric proof it does seem likely given his connection with the area and the fact that Torfrida became a nun in the Abbey following the breakup of their marriage.
David is currently researching Herewards life at the
