Northampton Symphony Orchestra - A Season of Fifths
The first concert of the Season of Fifths features Shostakovich's mighty Symphony No. 5, one of the most powerful works to come out of Soviet Russia. There is no escaping the symphony's macabre undertones and Shostakovich's famous satirical writing. Yet at the same time, it's a highly compelling and accessible work that is resolute through to the very end.
