Luton Borough: 140 years of knowledge and industry
In 1876 Luton was incorporated as a municipal borough; its motto 'Due to Knowledge and Industry'. Bedfordshire Archives takes a look at these themes of development of the town over the last 140 years by drawing particularly from recent additions to the archives. This small exhibition, supported by a free talk and a newsletter article, gives a taste of how educational opportunities were provided and how new industries were attracted to the town making the vibrant Luton of today.
