Newland Charcoal Iron Furnace

Heritage Open Day: The site contains the remains of the Newland Charcoal Iron Furnace, an 18th century water powered blast furnace used for about 150 years to produce pig iron. Visitors are welcome to look at the displays showing the history of the furnace and its restoration. Information on related industries is also provided. Guided tours around the furnace and surrounding hamlet are provided throughout the day. Children supervised by parents or guardians are more than welcome.
