Royal Northumberland Yacht Club, South Harbour Blyth

Heritage Open Day: HY TYNE: A WOODEN LIGHT VESSEL Built in 1879 as a light vessel for Trinity House with a hull construction similar to an 18th century fighting ship. LV50 as she was known then was anchored on dangerous reefs where it was not possible to construct a lighthouse. Today, National Historic Ships UK registers her as being of National Importance. Since 1952 she has been the Club ship of the Royal Northumberland Yacht Club. Explore above and below decks. Learn more about light vessels
