St James Old Medieval Church Bix Bottom
Heritage Open Day: Explore, walk, picnic and discuss with local people the Lottery Heritage Funded Project recently carried out to repair and conserve Bix Old Church a medieval ruin without a roof or shelter in a fairly remote, tranquil and beautiful location in The Chilterns AONB.
As a result of the project Historic England have now removed the site from the 'Heritage at Risk Register'. The site was added to the register in 2000 due to the monument's poor condition and so it has been particularly pleasing that such a long standing case has been removed from being at risk.
During some parts of The Heritage Open Days volunteers will share, answer questions and provide written and oral details of the successful project and hopefully offer encouragement to others as to how heritage projects can be implemented effectively.
