Shire Brook Valley Visitor Centre
Heritage Open Day: The event is centred on the Shire Brook Valley Nature Reserve visitor centre on Stone Lane at Woodhouse, Sheffield. This was built in the 1930's as the local sewage works manager's office. The sewage works closed in the 1980s and the area was reclaimed and re-modelled as a nature reserve area. The Shire Brook marked the ancient kingdom boundary between Northumbria and Mercia and from the 16th to the 19th century provided power for 5 industrial mills. In the 19th c
