Gillian Dow: Gothic Villains, Sentimental Heroines and Northanger Abbey at 200
As part of the Netley Literary Festival commemorating 200 years since the death of novelist Jane Austen, Director of Chawton House Library Gillian Dow will be delivering a talk on some of the writer’s influences.
The talk, which will take place at Abbey Hall in Netley at 7pm, will centre on Netley Abbey, which is said to have been one of the great influences for Jane Austen’s gothic satire novel, Northanger Abbey.
