Maes Knoll Gardens - Open Garden for NGS
3 contrasting gardens nestle in this hidden valley just outside Bristol. On the slopes of Maes Knoll, an ancient hill fort, is Whitewood Lodge, offering stunning garden design, enticing walks through wildlife gardens and a pond. Many seats allow time to relax and take in the stunning views and varied flower beds. Next door lies New Barn Lodge, a vibrant small holding where ponies and chickens live in an ancient Somerset orchard. Vegetables and soft fruit grow in the polytunnel, and there is a walk through an arboretum with swathes of perennials and prairie planting in the style of Piet Oudoulf, leading to a grove of silver birches. At New Barn Farm beautiful stone walls and gravel walkways lead you through this terraced garden bordered by beech and hornbeam hedges.
