Stoneygate Tram Depot - A Journey Back in Time

Heritage Open Day: A rare example of a district tram car depot built in 1904 that is still in very original condition. Displays tell the fascinating story of Leicester's association with the tram from 1874 to 1949. Stoneygate Tram Depot was built to coincide with the introduction of electric trams in Leicester. It has space for six trams, in two rows of three on adjacent tracks. The building still has the tram lines in place. We will give visitors the opportunity to explore the tram depot
