Waterperry Opera Festival

Waterperry Opera Festival are thrilled to announce our entire 2021 Artistic Programme including 7 productions for you to enjoy over 10 festival days this August. Their varied and exciting programme this summer includes;

Two headlining productions - an exciting and immerse production of The Elixir of Love (Donizetti) will performed on the front lawn of Waterperry House, and a new interdisciplinary chamber version of the timeless fairy tale, Hansel & Gretel (Humperdinck). This show is perfect for all the family to enjoy and incorporates British Sign Language into the production. There will also be a family-friendly introductory music-theatre and craft workshop before each performances which is included in the price of your ticket.

A symphonic fairy tale for children - Peter and the Wolf (Prokofiev), performed next to the lily-pond in the Waterperry Gardens, this charming show is perfect for all the family.

Following its success in 2020, Ariel (Jonathan Dove) based on Shakespeare's The Tempest will be retuning to the Mary Rose Garden. This intimate production offers an insight into Ariel’s world following the spirit’s release from Prospero’s command.

In partnership with Oxford Lieder, two newly-staged productions of Clairières dans le ciel (Lili Boulanger) and On Wenlock Edge (Vaughan Williams), these performances are not to be missed. Audiences can enjoy these events as stand-alone performances or as part of their wider festival experience.

The Quartet for the End of Time (Messiaen), this late-night music and light installation will be a ground-breaking event, will be performed in Waterperry’s impressive Amphitheatre and reimagined by a visual artist, audiences will be in for a treat.

Join them at Waterperry this August, and dive deep into the beautiful music and nature they will have on offer. Explore the hidden corners of our stunning gardens; you never know what you might find. Box office opens on 3rd May.
The Elixir of Love will range from £15–£60 (Saturday & Sunday) and £15–£50 (Thursday & Tuesday).
Hansel and Gretel, tickets are from £10–£30
Peter and the Wolf, Ariel, Clairieres dans le ciel and On Wenlock Edge, tickets are from £8–£15; and for Quartet for The End of Time they are from £10–£20. Concessions will be available for NHS workers, Blue Light Card holders and individuals in receipt of unemployment and disability benefits.
