Hampshire care home helps prevent fraud in the community with advice
On Wednesday 12th May, from 11am-12pm, the Care UK teams at Pear Tree Court, in Horndean, and Ancasta Grove, a brand-new care home in Sarisbury Green, will be hosting a free ‘Scam Awareness’ online event.
Julie Gallagher, from Hampshire Trading Standards, will be on hand to deliver an informative session on a wide range of different scams, including expert information on how to spot and report them, and how to protect yourself or a loved one.
Those keen to find out more about Ancasta Grove, which is due to open in later this year, can also book an appointment for a special show-round and discuss their loved ones’ care requirements with a friendly member of the team.
Home manager at Ancasta Grove, Ray Arnold, said: “As we prepare to open our doors here in Sarisbury Green, we’re delighted to be hosting a joint event with our sister home Pear Tree Court.
“We’ve all spent a lot of time online this year, which has helped us to stay in touch with our loved ones, but this has also led to a rise in scams operated by ill-intentioned individuals taking advantage of the current pandemic. Sharing professional knowledge, insight and experiences on scam prevention can make a real difference to the everyday lives of older people and loved ones who may care for them. We’re delighted to welcome Julie Gallagher to join us to provide important and professional guidance in this area, and we hope local people will take the opportunity to benefit from her expertise.
“We’re also looking forward to welcoming visitors to our home and give them an exciting sneak peek into what life at Ancasta Grove will be like once we open our doors later this year. We’d like to encourage anyone looking into care for a loved one to book a free appointment to get tailored advice.”
