St Mary's Church, Chalgrove
Heritage Open Day: 14th century scheme of wall paintings in the chancel The chancel contains a world renowned scheme of wall paintings from the first quarter of the 14th century, limewashed over at the Reformation and rediscovered in 1858. More recently in 2015/6 the paintings were completely cleaned and conserved, so now look better than they have for a few years. A fully illustrated guide book is available for purchase and an app giving full details of the church's heritage including the paintings can be downloaded to smartphones or followed using the hand held devices available in the church. Guides will also be on hand to assist.
