City of Southampton Orchestra
To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the City of Southampton Orchestra (CSO) and the end of Covid lockdown, the City of Southampton Orchestra gives the first performance of a piece they commissioned by the recognised composer, John Traill, all about the city of Southampton.
The piece is also a lasting memory of Zena Howell, a former leader of the orchestra, who died in 2017 and whose legacy helped to fund the commission.
Dr John Traill, principal conductor of the orchestra and Director of Music at St Anne’s College, Oxford University, has written many pieces for orchestras and events, including premieres at the Royal Albert Hall and Symphony Hall Birmingham.
