Roth Guitar Duo
The first concert of the 36th season of concerts promoted by the Middlewich and District Concerts Society will feature the Roth Guitar Duo (Emma Smith and Sam Rodwell). The guitar is an instrument well suited to chamber music and smaller venues. The programme is wide ranging, from charming to challenging! Apart from Farewell to Stromness by Sir Peter Maxwell Davies all the music was written for the guitar. There will be pieces by well-known composers such as Castelnuovo-Tedesco, Granados and Albeniz and also some by contemporary composers (Ivanovic and Pujol). The last piece in the programme will be Homecoming by Yvonne Bloor, written for the Duo and a reflection of the high regard in which they are held. Something for everyone? We hope so!
